Back in May of 2014, I traveled to world heritage site, Yakushima.  Yakushima is an island located about 2 hours south of Kagoshima City by ferry.  It is located between Kyshuu and Okinawa in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.  It may also be the most beautiful place I think I have ever been and is extremely remote.  Getting there is a little complicated and can be very expensive, but if you have the time and the money its is a must see.  I wish these photos gave more justice to just how lush and green this place really is.  If you have ever seen “Princess Mononoke,” then this place should look familiar as the artists for that film came here to study the landscape prior to starting work on their animation.  You won’t find many people living here, but you will find lots of deer, monkey’s and sea turtles.  Enjoy!
